I'm a Toronto based painter, and a graduate of University of Toronto (B.A,B.Ed) and the Toronto School of Art (Dip. Fine Arts).

Abstraction is my forte and my passion. I allows me to listen to the promptings of my intuition as I create. I do not have a predetermined subject in mind when I start a painting and I consider myself to be playing with colour. Colour is my morning coffee: it energizes me and wakes me up.

It is the feeling of complete absorption in the process that inspires me to create. Painting brings me to a place where I am unaware of time passing, where I am in a state of flow. It is like a visual meditation.

For the past 20 years, I have been exhibiting and selling my works in Canada and the US and I have over 200 works in clients' homes. I am an elected member of the Ontario Society of Artists and a member of the North Toronto Group of Artists.

Why is it important for people to have art in their home or life?

Art can energize a space and it can energize your life, both in the creating of art and in appreciating the artworks of other people.

What artists do you admire right now?

Turner for his ethereal skies, and his barely-rendered organic shapes.

Favourite medium

I have a deep appreciation of the process of painting and my favorite medium is oil on canvas or oil on wood panel. The oil paints that I use are water-soluble and can be used without toxic solvents, so it makes them safer for use in my studio.They have a soft buttery consistency and great vibrancy.

What do you listen to when you work?

Usually soft instrumental music.
